Ned Ide, Instructor of English, Coach of Varsity Boys' Lacrosse

Ned Ide
This is my fifth year at The Hill School and my 20th year in teaching. I completed my undergraduate work at Trinity College in 1984. I live on campus in Foster Dormitory with my wife, Becky Smith, who is the director of counseling at The Hill, and our two children, Hanna, 13, and Nate, 10, who love being at The Hill. I serve as an instructor of English, head coach of the boys' lacrosse team, assistant coach of the varsity football team, and adviser to The Hill News and The Dial. I enjoy the constant challenge of helping students learn about themselves and their world; this is the most inspiring and creative professional challenge I face as an educator. Out of the classroom, I appreciate the time I have with my family and friends. Listening to music and writing, particularly during our stretches of vacation, occupies my free time.

Julie Miran, Director of Information Services

Julie Miran
I arrived at The Hill School in July 2005 as the director of information services. In this position I help to support the School's commitment to technology and its relationship to the library, as well as the School's mission of developing lifelong learning skills through the resources at Hill. Before coming to Hill, I spent the last 13 years working in college libraries at both Swarthmore and, most recently, Haverford Colleges, where my responsibilities always have included a wide array of technology-centric initiatives. I graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in English from Bates College where I was the field hockey captain and threw the shot-put. Later in life, I went back to school and got my MSIS from Drexel University. My interests include running and weight-training, reading, and quilting. My husband of 22 years, Karl, and I reside on campus with our three sons. Our eldest son, Seth, is a junior at Middlebury College and studying in Spain this winter. Jason graduated from the Hill in '05 and attends the University of Pennsylvania; Alec is a fifth form student/athlete at The Hill.
